It's important to address that bad experience so that all the good that is done isn't overshadowed. I had that one bad experience with an aid and immediately called the person in charge. UPMC insurance would not pay for any other facility. The nurses ignore her call bell for at least half an hour. They told her they were out of her pain medicine and she couldn't receive it until 5, when the Director of Nursing was involved they gave it to her right away. When they rolled her to use the bed pan, the ileostomy bag came out of her stomach and spilled all over the place, then the nurse aide told ME to go find the nurse.
Either Cranberry Place needs to hire more staff, or they need to find staff that can provide care. 2) If your family member would like Pastoral Care , know that Pastoral Care is non-existent. The “Pastoral Care” department made NO EFFORT to find out the patient’s needs, and the staff, when asked, did not know anything about how to request pastoral care, only pointed to schedule in hallway. Thus, my family member was denied Catholic Eucharist even though we REPEATEDLY asked the staff about communion. 3) And finally, if your loved one is considering this place because there is a dialysis facility on site, reconsider.
